Morgan Stanley and China Haisheng Juice yesterday settled their dispute over hedging contracts out of court. But it could embolden Chinese companies to cease derivatives payments in the future, aware of international banks’ fear of court battles.

The dispute centred on renminbi-dollar hedging contracts. Morgan Stanley was suing Haisheng in the UK for $26 million after the company ceased payments on its hedges.
